About Our Accommodations
The accommodations offered range from quaint turn of the century inns to large newly updated homes. The main inn, the Bellevue House was built in 1882 and has been operating as an inn since then. The Sheffield House, just two doors away was built 4 years later in a victorian style. All of the other homes were subsequently built by the respective innkeepers as the years went on for the families that ran the inns to live in, with the newest, the Windrose being built in 1992. Over the years extensive renovations have been made to all of the buildings and the on-site property manager and team will be sure that your stay is a pleasant one.
The Innkeeper, Cariona E. Corcoran works to ensure that your stay is nothing but enjoyable. Cariona has been vacationing on Block Island her entire life, and in 2004 made it her summer home. Cariona spends 6-9 months of the year on the island and spends as much time as possible in London, England during the winter months.
Cariona started Block Island Accommodations in 2007 with partner, and inn-owner John Leone after managing the Bellevue House for him the 3 years prior. In 2012 John stepped down from Block Island Accommodations to focus on his other on-island businesses. Later that year Cariona took over the only wedding coordination company on Block Island, and expanded it to include birthday parties, family reunions, corporate events and bachelor/ bachelorette parties. Block Island Events is Block Island’s only on-island event coordinating company and the best choice for all of your Block Island Events!
Cariona is also very active in Block Island’s tight-knit Community. She is the 2nd VP for the Block Island Chamber of Commerce, on the Taste of Block Island Committee, the Old Harbor Task Force, the Lions Club and the BIVFD Ladies Auxiliary. In March of 2012 Cariona won the Southern Rhode Island, 40 Under 40 Award, honoring her for her entrepreneurial skills and dedication to the Block Island Community.
